Best of VinoTina Cellar Charity Tasting
When the idea to put together this charity tasting came to me it was motivated by two very simple things - 1.) I had a lot of wine to spare that I wanted to share with others. 2.) If shared, then let's do it right and for a good cause that's close to my heart. My grandmother who the tasting was dedicated to returned from the old people's home specialized in taking care of Alzheimer patients the day before the tasting - timing that gives me goosebumps. There isn't a single bad thing I can say about the facility - they took good care of her. However it was a complicated, emotional decision to make and we realized we weren't comfortable with it in the end. Home is home and we realized we wanted her to live out the rest of her days together with us, her family, no matter how difficult logistically that may be. When she returned home she was visibly happy looking out of her old room into the garden that she loved so much - she knew where she was and I'm so happy we took this step. It was the right thing to do.
The tasting itself... I'm at a loss for words. I honestly thought around 20 people would show up, that it would be a small, quiet event. When more than 35 people confirmed attendance I started to get a little nervous - would everyone enjoy themselves? Would they enjoy the wine, the company of those coming? Well, the result couldn't have been better. Strangers I'd never met before came - a wonderful group of 8 co-workers from Bratislava came and they were so brave for taking the leap and coming to something they had no idea what to except from. Two of the most charming men, Adam and Filip, came all the way from Brno and I can't wait to work with them in the future - they're doing exciting things that I want to be a part of. Friends mingled, got to know each other a little better and it was amazing to see how well everyone was reacting to the wines. Most of the people present hadn't had any experience with natural wine before and this was honestly a surprisingly wonderful way and setting in which to introduce them to this world.
I am so incredibly grateful to each and every person that came. We raised more than a 1000 Euros and it was one of the best night's of my life. I'm blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. Thank you.
And last but not least - thank you to my beautiful friend Zuzka for taking these photos. I barely had time to breathe let alone snap so I'm very grateful that these images exist. A wonderful memento.
